Erin is currently in rehearsals for The Stinky Cheese Man (and Other Fairly Stupid Tales), a children's show based on the popular picture book by Jon Scieszka, at California State University, Northridge. Tickets here.
Erin McBride Africa is a stage director, choreographer, and theatre professor based in the Los Angeles area. She is on the Theatre faculty at College of the Canyons and California State University, Northridge, and is Associate Artistic Director of Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival. She is intrigued by works that spark the imagination while raising challenging questions. Her productions lead audiences on journeys of rich storytelling. She has a strong interest in inspired classics, new work, collaborative creation, and smart theatre for young audiences.

2017 was a busy year! Erin led a group of students in the creation of Coffee Chronicled: A Devised Play About TIME and directed A Piece of My Heart at College of the Canyons. She also directed two 10-minute plays in festivals at Eclectic Company Theatre in North Hollywood and Sacred Fools in Hollywood, CA.
Erin directed Monica Greene's, Friends & Fantasies, in Fast & Loose at Sacred Fools in Hollywood.
Erin's production of Enrique Acosta's gothic fairy tale opera, Bluebeard's Bride, was featured in the Short+Sweet Festival Hollywood.
Erin directed the mainstage production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival the during the 2016 summer season.
Audiences enjoyed a sold out run of Dog Sees God by Bert V. Royal, which Erin directed at College of the Canyons in March 2016.
Erin directed Save our Marriage by Rochelle Perry for the Theatre of NOTE Performance Marathon in January of 2016. She originally directed it as a part of Scripted and Staged, a 24-hour theatre event presented by Eclectic Company Theatre in North Hollywood, CA.
Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival presented Twelfth Night: A Rock Musical. Directed by Erin McBride Africa, Music Composed by Jay Africa. This spirited modern take on Shakespeare's beloved comedy featured original compositions for the Bard's lyrics.
Erin is currently on the faculty of the Theatre Department at College of the Canyons.
Erin's adaptation of Paulo Coelho's Veronika Decides to Die is being produced at the National Theatre on the Faroe Islands, directed by Hans Tόrgaðrðððððd.
